Novel Method and Measurement of the Valsalva Leak Point Pressure Using Lung-Generated Pressures

The aim of this study is to identify and measure the relationship between lung and rectal pressures under Valsalva conditions using the principals of Pascal’s law.

Using a novel mouthpiece design developed by Dr. Alexandre Menezes, we sought to demonstrate equivalency between lung and rectal pressures in order to discover a method of measuring the Valsalva leak point pressure which would not require catheterization and would therefore be non-invasive in nature.
