Elizabeth Mueller, MD
Elizabeth Mueller, MD, MSME, FACS is a board certified urologist, who completed an accredited fellowship in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery at Loyola University Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois. She is an Assistant Professor in Urology and Obstetrics/Gynecology at Loyola and is Medical Director of the Division of Urogynecology. She is an NIH funded investigator. Her special interests include surgical anatomy and minimally invasive (robotic, laparoscopic and vaginal) surgical treatment of women with pelvic floor dysfunction.
Dr. Mueller co-developed an integrated, surgical anatomy lecture and dissection series for gynecology and urology residents in Chicago, and was selected to lead a national effort to create a formal educational curriculum on urodynamics for urology residents. Her current research focus is on the use of 3-D ultrasound to image the female pelvic floor and a randomized trial comparing the cost-effectiveness of laparoscopic versus robotic assisted laparoscopic sacrocolpopexy for pelvic organ prolapse.
Dr. Mueller is on the chairman of the membership committee for the American Urogynecological Society (AUGS) and immediate past-president of the Society of Women in Urology (SWIU). Her most rewarding experience, however, is being mom to her 8-year old twins, Jonathan and Mia.
