Course Description
There is a growing appreciation of the impact of dysfunctional voiding in children. Behavior management has become an important tool in managing this problem. Pelvic floor rehabiliation or retraining is becoming the mainstay in behavior modification. The goal of this course is to provide physical therapists, physicians and nurses with knowledge of the mechanisms associated with dysfunctional voiding and practical knowledge regarding its management, particularly with respect to pelvic floor therapy.
Course Objectives
* Understand the developmental physiology of the lower urinary tract in children.
* Identify the effect of dysfunctional voiding on other urologic conditions in children.
* Develop strategies for managing pelvic floor dysfunction in children.
* Determine children who might benefit from pelvic floor therapy.
* Understand and apply the principles of pelvic floor therapy in children.
* Use the Urostym™ for pelvic floor training.
